CLOSING COMMENTS

If you’ve been relying on repeaters and/or the Internet, remember, all it takes is a cable, phone line or power line to be disrupted by a tree limb or backhoe to knock out your communications. Start exercising your repeater and power grid independence now, while things are peaceful!

The other Amateur Radio VHF-UHF frequencies and modes have not been discussed here for a reason. Those other bands and modes are simply not as common to as many Amateur Radio operators as is 2-meter FM. If they are not as common to Amateur Radio Operators, then you can bet that they are hopelessly uncommon to the average citizen.

While the Simplex Preservation Society encourages the use of all "direct" communications activities, our focus is on 2-meters FM because it's the simplest way to serve the community.
